Eyebrow Microblading and Microshading

MICROBLADING BY TIA

What is Microblading?

Microblading is the technique of using a thin line of needles to scrape ink into the dermis of the skin, creating thin, crisp hair-like marks. It is similar to a tattoo, but the needle does not go as deep into the skin and the results don’t typically last as long. Not all skin types are suitable for microblading, as on very thin or fine skin types or very oily, acne-prone skin, the process may cause scabbing and scarring. Once determined whether or not microblading is right for you, your eyebrows will carefully be mapped and drawn on according to your facial symmetry, current eyebrow shape, and preference before actually being microbladed on.

What to expect:

The eyebrows will be measured and shaped to be even and to fit your preferences. Before starting you will be asked questions as to how thick/ thin you would like them, how short or long you would like them to be, and whether you would prefer for them to look more dramatic or natural. Once mapped out and drawn on, you will be able to see the shape and I will make any changes necessary. I want my clients to leave feeling confident and loving the way they look even more, and I believe that taking the time to find the perfect shape is crucial. The ink will be matched according to your natural hair color and skin tone. This procedure involves a row of needles entering the skin so you will experience some pain throughout the process. Numbing cream is put on shortly after you arrive and reapplied throughout, but you will still experience some discomfort. Clients have expressed that the first layer hurts, but once the numbing cream is able to get below the surface of the skin, you will hardly feel anything. Your comfort is important to me, so I will stop at any point if a break is needed. Consultations are not necessary but they are welcomed, free of charge if you have any concerns about whether or not microblading is right for you. The procedure typically takes around 3 hours total, and a follow up session is recommended about 4 to 6 weeks after, which should take another 2 hours. After the procedure they will look a bit darker than you may like but the color will fade as they begin to heal. (See healing stages below)

Aftercare:

The amount of time the ink lasts changes from person to person depending on their skin type, as well as how well their skin retains the ink. Typically, the results will last 1 to 3 years although it does vary. Healing usually takes about a month, and within this stage you should apply argan oil 2 to 3 times a day. You should keep your eyebrows completely dry for the first 24 hours and then you will only rinse with water for the next 2-3 days. After this, a gentle facial cleanser should be used for the next 4 weeks (Both the argan oil and gentle facial cleanser will be provided). For the next 10 days following the procedure, you should avoid profuse sweating, pools or hot tubs, or exposing your eyebrows to strong winds from boat rides, convertibles or motorcycles.  For the next month you should steer clear of using any harsh chemicals or facewash on or near this area, as well as any kind of facial, botox, or dermabrasion. You should also try to avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible and keep your face away from the shower head when showering throughout the next month.

Before coming in:

Before coming in I would suggest staying out of the sun as much as possible and avoiding any intense physical activities or sweating as much as possible, the week of, as well as drinking alcohol, coffee, or energy drinks the day of.  Avoid waxing or tinting within 5 days of your appointment. It is also recommended that you stop taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10 and ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure.
